Restaurant Insights — books first, optional AI
myRestrox Insights observes sales, recipes, stock, and waste → analyzes patterns → identifies outliers → explains in plain language → recommends next steps. Staff review and act. AI never posts bills, moves stock, or files GST.
Insights pack is Growth and Scale. Language-model Ask is optional — off until you paste an API key in Setup.
How it works
- 1. Observe — POS records orders, paid bills, recipe deductions, waste, and cash.
- 2. Analyze — Insights service builds the pack for your date range.
- 3. Identify — Structured cards show conclusion, evidence, impact, confidence.
- 4. Explain — Plain-language recommendations — or Ask if you enabled a model.
- 5. Act — Owner or manager posts PO, adjusts portioning, or investigates — in the app.
What Insights includes (no AI required)
The Insights pack is deterministic from your restaurant data. It runs when you open Insights or refresh — not as an overnight cron job.
- Food cost and contribution after waste
- Wastage summary and top wasted ingredients
- Reorder suggestions at or below reorder level
- Recipe variance — neutral language for unexplained gaps
- Menu engineering and combo pair suggestions
- Peak hours and channel contribution when enough history exists
- Rule-based anomalies: waste spikes, voids, cash, stock signals
Optional AI Ask
With a language model off, Ask matches keywords (“reorder”, “food cost”, “waste”). With your OpenAI-compatible key in Setup, Ask can answer in your own words over the report pack. Each answer is labelled Uses AI or Books only.
What AI does not do
No autonomous restaurant management. No guaranteed theft detection, savings, or forecasting accuracy. No auto-receive POs or auto-run Insights while you sleep.
Honest limits
- AI Ask sends the report pack to your configured provider — not the full database.
- Menu-from-photo and receipt-from-photo are separate optional vision helpers.
- Starter plan does not include Insights.
Questions
- Example Insights-style message?
- “Tomatoes were consumed 18% faster than your recent average. Check portion size, wastage, or purchasing.” — neutral, not an accusation.
- Does Insights run automatically every night?
- No. Staff refresh Insights when they need it. There is no overnight auto-run.
